Allis Chalmers to star
By: Web Editor
THE Ashville Vintage Club near Ardee, Republic of Ireland, is holding its annual event on Sunday 1 August. Gerry King tells us the Club has an exciting new site for 2010, the feature will be veteran and vintage equipment and this year Allis Chalmers is the major theme. It is expected to have just on 100 machines of this make working and on show.
Gerry King's Gleaner Baldwin Fordson F combine will be in action at the Ashville event on 1 August.
This is a full working event and Ireland’s oldest two combines will indeed be working, including Gerry’s wonderful Fordson F Gleaner Baldwin. This is to be fitted with a transfer box to give the combine a lower ratio to work in modern crops and we look forward to seeing this happen, along with such other wonderful early tackle. It is hoped that the pre 1920 McCormick-Deering stooking machine can be seen in action too. As Gerry (the well known National horse ploughing champion) says this show is for the older tackle and the Fingal event the weekend before is for classic machinery.
