John Deere’s innovative QuickAdjust cutting units have been recognised with a new product award at IOG Scotsturf.

Award winning QA cutting units

The QA5 and QA7 units won the award for new and innovative products in the small/medium machinery category at November’s trade exhibition. “We are delighted to win this award, which confirms the feedback we’ve been getting from groundsmen and greenkeepers since the product’s launch this summer,” said John Deere’s turf equipment product marketing manager Henry Bredin.

“There has already been a great deal of interest in these new cutting units, which are featured on our new range of greens, tees, surrounds and fairway mowers. Many professionals have commented that any piece of equipment or machine that makes their job easier and quicker is bound to be a winner, and this award underlines that.”

Featuring a patented SpeedLink system that is unique in the industry, the QA cutting cylinders provide rapid height of cut adjustment from either side of the units. This new technology allows adjustments to be made in just a few seconds to both sides of the rear roller simultaneously, using only an electric drive 16mm (⅝in) wrench or socket. This effectively allows the reels on an entire fleet to be set in the time it previously took to adjust the height of cut on just one mower, with worm gears ensuring that the adjustments remain in place.

The 127mm (5in) diameter QA5 cutting unit is available in 46 or 56cm (18 or 22in) cutting widths, while the 178mm (7in) diameter QA7 unit is available in widths of 56, 66 or 76cm (22, 26 or 30in). Both can be specified with optional greens or fairway tender conditioners.

The award winning QuickAdjust cutting units will be featured on a range of new John Deere mowers on the company’s stand at Harrogate Week 2010 in January.
