Ready for action! The Cub Cadet 70 and 128 models.
WINTER’S here and when the snow arrives Justin Hokinson is doubly prepared! With the temperature dropping to freezing Justin (15) of Portland, Maine, in the USA woke to find a good 2-3 inches of fresh snow on the ground.
No problem here, as he brought a pair of Cadets in to help – International Harvester Cub Cadets that is!
His 1963 model 70 has a ‘stock’ Cub Cadet plough and the 1972 model 128 has a home-made plough fitted. Used on the six-acre family home and hay field for running lawn mowers, hauling harrows or working cultivators on the rear lifts during the summer months, a bit of snow doesn’t bother Justin or the tractors. The snowplough Cadets have Kohler K301 12hp single-cylinder engines and in the tractor pulling season the Cub Cadet 70 is also seen competing against other ‘garden tractors’.
In case a bit of ‘back-up’ is needed, there’s always a 1963 Cub Cadet Original with dual-wheels fitted, having a Kohler K161 7hp single-cylinder engine under the bonnet.
