Devil to get out
By: Web Editor
I AM reading the March issue of Tractor and in the article ‘All time high’ by Ben Philips, he talks about the diesel feed to the heater plug coming from its own reservoir. Well this is correct for tractors of this age and the parts list clearly shows the system.
Now I can't tell if this is the same as on the tractor Ben is working on as none of the pictures show what is fitted, but I think it probably is. The small reservoir was mounted onto the same support bracket as held the dynamo control box and I remember that the steel pipe on the top was a devil to get out if it had been over-tightened, when splitting the tractor to replace the clutch. This system was later simplified to just a larger bore plastic pipe on a ‘T’ union in the return fuel line from the injectors; the larger bore holding enough fuel without the need of the small reservoir.
The article by Niklas Larsson ‘Running on Gas’ was very interesting as I had often wondered how the system worked.
