SEEING the Rotary Hoe trencher (Alec’s Cuttings No 21, March Tractor) took me back to about 1943 when I repaired one for the Glos War Ag in the North Cotswolds. This machine was fitted to a Fordson and had Rotaped tracks as on your picture.

Devil to get out

I AM reading the March issue of Tractor and in the article ‘All time high’ by Ben Philips, he talks about the diesel feed to the heater plug coming from its own reservoir. Well this is correct for tractors of this age and the parts list clearly shows the system.
Sea Horse 2?

DURING the 1960s, a modified Ford County, known as ‘Sea Horse’, became the first tractor able to travel on water as well as on land.

GREETINGS from Confignon, which is a village of 4000 people 7km from the centre of Geneva, Switzerland. I received a call from a village mate who is a great fan of things mechanical. Much of his retirement is taken up with restoring machinery, including a variety of ageing/ageless agricultural implements.

WINTER’S here and when the snow arrives Justin Hokinson is doubly prepared! With the temperature dropping to freezing Justin (15) of Portland, Maine, in the USA woke to find a good 2-3 inches of fresh snow on the ground.

RE: Alec’s Cuttings No 20 in your February issue of Tractor magazine.
After recently having retired from working on farms for 50 years and having read your magazine for many years I was interested in the article on ploughs in the early 1960s.
