Sedgemoor Vintage Club hold their Annual Vintage Rally near Highbridge in Somerset in July and the past three years have teamed up with Isleport Vintage Hay and Harvest Working which has given the rally an excellent working section with a vast amount of unusual and rare farm machinery. However, at the Clubs AGM in October 2011 the Chairman stated that the general consensus was that the Club a Working Section was no longer required, therefore the rally (July 7-8, 2012) will revert to a static rally with vehicle parades throughout the two days.

AN open day at RES Tractors Ltd attracted a large turnout with machinery from 36 manufacturers and suppliers on show. The Skinner family welcomed visitors throughout the afternoon and evening to their premises near Harby, Leicestershire.

The National Trust’s Wicken Fen is a National Nature Reserve with 650 acres of wetland of European importance offering primary habitats for a number of endangered species. Additionally, as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) it requires expert maintenance using specialist techniques. Senior Warden James Selby has the complex task of specifying machinery which can be productive over the vast area of land while coping with its unique challenges.

Sam Pettman is the Countryside Ranger responsible for five sites covering over 1000 acres across North Kent. While only being 13 miles South East of Central London, the Petts Wood and Hawkwood site covering 340 acres provides an oasis of peace and tranquillity. Full of natural history, the area is a haven for all kinds of bird, butterfly, amphibian and plant life.

Four genuine tractors from a local farm are expected to attract keen interest when they go under the hammer at auctioneers Halls’ monthly collective auction at The Gallops, Stanklyn lane, Stone, near Kidderminster on May 25. The tractors include a 2003 Case MX170 4wd, a 2002 Case MX170 4wd with Tremble Easy Ride and GPS, a Y registration Case MX170 4wd and a T registration Case CX90 4wd.
