New tractor DVDs - June 2010

Working the Fields was filmed at the 2009 Diseworth working day and shows a wide range of machinery in the Ford and Fordson National Ploughing Match Finals and the Kegworth Village Agricultural Club ploughing match; and the selection of machines in the 'Grandad's harvest' includes combines from 50 years ago and threshing with steam.

Presented by Stephen Richmond and Jonathan Whitlam, Working the Fields takes the viewer on a fascinating journey to enjoy the sights and sounds of the day. Published by Old Pond Publishing Ltd, the DVD runs for 90 minutes and is priced £15.95.

In the DVD Modern Tractors Part 2 Jonathan Whitlam and Stephen Richmond take a look at the development of tractors over the last 10 years to the powerful and technologically advanced machines of today controlled by electronics and computer systems.

It includes machines from New Holland, McCormick, Landini, JCB, Challenger, Fendt and Massey Ferguson and looks at on-board computer control systems and the benefits of axel and cab suspension systems. Published by Old Pond Publishing Ltd, the DVD runs for 80 minutes and costs £15.95.

New Century New Power is the new DVD from Toy Farmer magazine and Peter D Simpson focusing on the 21st century mighty high-horsepowered 4wd and rubber-tracked tractors and large-scale farming in North Dakota where spreads can be 10,000-50,000 acres.

The big tractor names are all here, seen working on a variety of big-field operations, and interviews examine some key aspects of the new technology.
