Olympic medallist mounts new record

Olympic medallist, Giorgio Di Centa, has claimed a new record by reaching the highest point in Europe attained by a tractor.

Giorgio drove his Same tractor mounted with Continental AC70 T tyres and König snow chains through the Stelvio Pass in the Eastern Alps on 23 July and reached the altitude of 3175 metres at the old Pirovano refuge marking the highest point in Europe reached in a tractor and attested by the Italian Timekeepers Association (Federazione Italiana Cronometristi). The terrain varied between paved road, stone and ice.
Giorgio’s accomplishment was a part of a two-day conference hosted by Same Deutz-Fahr and König.
“It was tough to reach the 3175m altitude,” said Giorgio Di Centa, a top Italian cross country skier. “The snow, strong wind and slope did not discourage me in conquering the summit. Such challenges are simply irresistible.”
