Sign O' the times

With so many road runs, rallies, ploughing matches and other events on the calendar, it can seem like a military operation each year to get organised to see as many as possible. This was brought to my attention not so long ago when a couple from America who are visiting our fair isles this year and were looking for suggestions where to go see tractors during their stay contacted me.

Sign O' the times

At Selby Ploughing Match on Sunday 14 March 2010 is Nick Morley from Lowdham, Nottingham, on his 1941 McCormick International W4 with Ransomes RSLD two-furrow plough. Peter D Simpson

Fortunately I was able to direct them to our online database of current events, which will hopefully help make their journey memorable. And I am pleased to announce that this is just one of the things that you the reader can now explore on our new website at www.tractormagazine.co.uk

I for one was mighty pleased when I was summoned to the depths of Mortons mansions to be told by the ‘lords of the internet’ that I was one of the chosen ones among our titles to go ‘live’ first. As soon as I became involved with Tractor magazine, it became perfectly clear that the subject is such a massive one and that the ability to be able to include all this information on our website is a tremendous benefit.

Please make sure that you bookmark our site, as there will be regular updates of news, products, reviews and competitions to name but a few. Our classified adverts section gives you the chance to sample some of the items regularly on offer in the magazine. It also allows you to easily upload your own classified adverts for inclusion in forthcoming issues of the magazine – and what’s more it adds yet another way to take advantage of our absolutely free classified ads service.

Comment on the articles online, explore our online issue archive, add to our online gallery of images of events and keep up to date with the latest news as it happens between issues. Browse our product section where ‘old meets new’ to discover the latest in the restoration industry and developments in the tractor industry. More importantly, keep checking the site for competitions as I have a hoard of items just to give away.

hich brings us back to that events guide facility, as not only can you find out what’s happening near you, but organisers can also enter their upcoming events directly to the database.

I’m hoping that this might even satisfy my uncle Rod, who actually does plan his eventing season with military precision and tries to get to as many shows as possible with his caravan – it could be a result of spending his life as a trucker perhaps. Anyhow, as soon as one season finishes, he is chasing after what’s happening next year; so at least now the answers are at his fingertips.
