Solar Powered Welding Helmets
By: Tony Hoyland
GRINDING and welding often go hand-in-hand, yet the lenses of ordinary welding helmets are likely to be too dark to use while grinding, making it difficult to see what you are doing. In the past this has meant that you need another form of eye or face protection for grinding.
Sealey have introduced a new automatic welding helmet which, as well as having shades 9-13 for welding, features a ‘grinding function’ enabling the user to grind without having to remove the welding helmet. The ‘grinding function’ switch stops the lens from going any darker than its natural tint, shade 4, allowing the user to continue benefiting from full-face protection while grinding.
This new Welding Helmet is available in Blue, Grey or Red and can be found at a discounted introductory price of £99.95 plus VAT on the front cover of Sealey’s ‘New Lines’ Promotion, which is valid until the end of April 2010. Model numbers are PWH699B (Blue), PWH699G (Grey), PWH699R (Red).
